Kasey E. Power, PhD

Bio

During my undergraduate studies, I was equally passionate about pursuing my interests in both art history and studio art. As an avid printmaker, I found tremendous joy in uncovering and understanding the processes necessary for a wide variety of print styles. As I approached my senior year, I interned with a nonprofit that placed artists in K-12 public schools that lacked funding for the arts. It was then that I realized that exploring artistic media for myself did not hold the excitement and fulfillment that I experienced when teaching those same media to students.

That realization led me to pursue a Master's degree in Art and Visual Culture Education, after which I worked as a 5th-12th grade art teacher. Later, upon returning to school to obtain my Doctorate, I found a deep love for mentoring and supporting pre- and in-service art teachers.

That love brings me to the present day, where I am currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at both the University of Arizona and the University of Florida, sharing a passion for art education with both undergraduate and graduate students.
